How does it work?

A new and reliable blood pressure Holter device, approved by the Israeli Ministry of Health and the FDA.

The wearable device measures blood pressure without an inflating cuff. It is discreet, does not interfere with daily activities and does not wake you up at night. The device is single-use, so there is no need to return it after the test.

How does the new blood pressure Holter work?

The device uses advanced, non-invasive optical technology. It measures heart rate and blood pressure accurately, with no pain, no discomfort and no disruption to your daily routine.

The test uses a smart sensor with a single-use adhesive patch. You simply attach the patch to your chest and measurement starts automatically.

After 24 hours you get a detailed report with clear graphs, directly in a dedicated app. At the end of the test you just throw the single-use Holter away, and all medical data is sent securely to your care providers without leaving home.

Why monitor blood pressure for 24 hours?

A blood pressure Holter test measures your blood pressure continuously over a full day. Unlike a single measurement at the clinic, it shows how your blood pressure behaves during the day and at night.

The test is especially important because it is highly predictive of future cardiovascular risk. It helps assess whether blood pressure is under control and reduces the risk of complications such as stroke, heart disease, vascular damage and impaired kidney function (O’Brien et al., 2013; Parati et al., 2014).

One of the main advantages of a blood pressure Holter is that it also measures blood pressure during sleep. Night-time values are an important indicator of cardiovascular risk, and sometimes predict future risk better than daytime values (Hermida et al., 2011).

At our center the test is done with an advanced BIOBEAT device that measures blood pressure without an inflating cuff. With traditional devices the cuff inflates every 15 minutes, which can be uncomfortable and disturb sleep. The new technology allows free movement during the day and uninterrupted sleep at night, while collecting accurate, continuous blood pressure data.

What is a blood pressure Holter test?

A blood pressure Holter test, also known as Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM), is a method of continuously monitoring blood pressure over an extended period, usually 24 hours.

During the test, the device measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure at regular intervals throughout the day and night. This gives a full picture of how blood pressure changes with activity, rest and sleep.

Continuous monitoring gives more accurate information about blood pressure than a single measurement at the clinic (Parati et al., 2014).

When is a blood pressure Holter test recommended?

A blood pressure Holter helps detect changes in blood pressure that a single measurement cannot always reveal.

For example, some people have normal readings at home but higher values at the clinic. In other cases it is the opposite: blood pressure looks normal at the clinic but is high at home. Continuous monitoring makes it possible to identify these situations and improve diagnosis and treatment (O’Brien et al., 2013).

The test also helps evaluate how well medication works and whether blood pressure stays under control around the clock.

Doctors recommend this test when:

  • Hypertension is suspected but not yet confirmed
  • Blood pressure readings vary significantly between measurements
  • Medication does not bring blood pressure under adequate control
  • "White coat hypertension" is suspected: raised blood pressure in the presence of medical staff
  • "Masked hypertension" is suspected: normal at the clinic but high at home
  • Pregnant women with suspected preeclampsia
  • Patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or kidney disease
  • Evaluating a new medication or a change in dosage

Continuous blood pressure monitoring also shows the relationship between daytime and night-time blood pressure. This helps doctors assess overall cardiovascular risk and time medication more precisely (Hermida et al., 2011).
